A recording has recently surfaced in which Maryanne Trump Barry, President Donald Trump's older sister, said that he can't be trusted and has no principles. The secret recording was made during 15 hours of face to face conversations that Barry had with Mary Trump, her niece who recently released a popular book about the dynamics of the family.
During the lengthy interviews, Barry condemned her brother and said that he was cruel. She seemed especially dismayed with his immigration policies.
“All he wants to do is appeal to his base,” she said, adding that “He has no principles. None. None."
The recordings were released the day after a White House memorial service for Robert Trump, the younger brother of the president, and Ms. Barry.
Mary Trump has been criticized for secretly recording conversations for the book, but her spokesperson, Chris Bastardi, said that the conversations were recorded because she anticipated that Trump would attempt to sue her and she wanted to have evidence to back herself up.
The book discusses how Donald Trump's father was extremely abusive towards all of his children and encouraged them to be bullies. Mary Trump's father, and Donald's brother, Fred was the eldest of the brothers and was expected to be the heir to the Trump real estate fortune.
However, he never seemed to be ruthless enough for his father, whereas Donald was quick to pick up on the type of behavior that would earn his father's respect. Fred ended up dying early from an alcohol-related illness. Mary believes that the depression caused by her grandfather and the conditions in her family contributed significantly to his addiction.
Mary Trump was initially invited to the White House after her uncle won the election, but after she announced plans to release a tell-all book about the family their relationship quickly deteriorated, and the president attempted to block the release of the book, but his attempts failed and the book became a best-seller shortly after it was released.
