Two people were killed and another wounded on the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin last night during the third night of unrest, NBC News reported.
The gunman was identified only as a young white gunman. The man opened fire on protesters as they appeared to attack him after running down the street prior to firing on another man for unknown reasons according to video. Separate videos that captured the other two shootings showed a group of protesters chasing after the gunman as he ran down the middle of the street. Someone in the crowd can be heard asking others "What did he do?" and another responds that the man had just shot someone.
One man can be seen hitting the gunman over the head with a skateboard before wrestling with the gunman as gunshots rang out and people ran. This same man was later seen grasping his chest suggesting he was shot in the chest.
Another victim was shot in the head all happening at around 11.45 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth. A third man was shot in the arm but his wounds were not believed to e still investigating and no one had been taken into custody at this time.
The videos show the man with the gun tripping in the street before one person kicks him, while another appeared to strike him with a skateboard.
The gunman then laying on his back fires three to four shots, hitting at least two people, including one who fell over clutching his chest and another who stumbled away putting pressure on his arm, according to the videos posted around social media.
As the crowd scatters, the shooter stands up and continues walking down the street as police cars begin to arrive.
The man then slings his gun across his chest, puts up his hands, and walks toward the squad of cars as someone yells at police "that man just shot someone." Several police cars are seen passing by him driving down the street toward the people who had just been shot.
Despite the man appearing to hand himself in, Sheriff David Beth told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the shooter had not yet been identified or detained.
"I feel very confident we'll have him in a very short time," Beth told the Journal.
Police stated they fear that the shooting was due to the self-styled militias' defending local businesses from looters amid the ongoing unrest over the shooting of Jacob Blake. Blake remains in the hospital after being shot seven times in the back by a white Kenosha officer on Sunday, prompting protests that have continued violating a curfew order.
An investigation is underway and the victims' identities have not yet been released.
independent journalist, CJ Halliburton, said in a graphic video posted on his Facebook page that he witnessed the attack and provided aid to a man who had been shot in the arm. "He shot the other guy in the head right there in the road," wrote Halliburton.
WGN News a local station shows the video of the man laying on his back in the news report below.
Anewspost previously reported how the protests have gotten increasingly more violent each night with people trashing their own city burning businesses, lighting cars on fire, windows smashed and looting shops.
Kenosha police have released very few details on the shooting of Blake saying that officers were responding to a domestic incident at 5:11 p.m. Sunday. Raysean White, 22, who recorded the video, has said he heard police tell Blake to "drop the knife." White said he did not see Blake with a knife, and it is not clear whether he was carrying one.
However, White's video when zoomed in shows Blake may have an unidentified object in his hand. But its not clear if that object is a knife or keychain. There is also a second video that Anewspost reported which in the footage an unknown woman can be heard screaming "drop it." The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating the police-involved shooting according to a report by the New York Times. All officers involved were placed on administrative leave and the DOJ “aims to provide a report of the incident to the prosecutor within 30 days” to determine whether to file any charges.
