Taylor Swift Fans Want To Enlist Her To Run For President Against Kanye West

Kanye West made headlines earlier this week by announcing that he plans to run for president. It is not entirely clear if he plans on running for office this year, because it is extremely late in the campaign process and pretty much impossible to make a serious effort at this point, but his tweet did end with the hashtag “#2020 vision.”

In a Twitter post on Saturday night, West sent out a Tweet to his followers that read, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States … #2020VISION.”

However, electoral experts have been quick to point out that Kanye has no chance of entering the election, at least this year anyway. He has already missed the deadline to file as an independent candidate in a number of key states including North Carolina, which passed on March 3, Texas, which passed on May 11, New York, which passed on May 26, Maine, which passed on June 1, New Mexico, which passed on June 25, and Indiana, which passed on June 30). although, it’s not too late for him to appear on the ballot in some other states, but many others, such as Florida, South Carolina, Michigan, Colorado, Missouri, and Oklahoma have deadlines coming this month.

As predicted, the internet reaction has been intense, from people turning into a joke, to others who are concerned that his move could take votes away from Joe Biden. One of the most interesting responses online is from fans of the pop star Taylor Swift, who are pushing for her to run in opposition.

Swift has had an ongoing feud with West that started when he interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Swift has sold more than 50 million albums and 150 million singles worldwide and is one of the world’s best-selling music artists of all time. Swift is one of the most-followed people on social media. As of July 2020, she has more than 136 million followers on Instagram, 86.5 million followers on Twitter and 38.5 million subscribers on YouTube.

Time included her on its annual list of the 100 most influential people in 2010, 2015, and 2019. From 2011 to 2020, she appeared in the top three on the Forbes Top-Earning Women in Music list with earnings of $45 million, $57 million, $55 million, $64 million, $80 million, $170 million, $44 million and $80 million, topping the list in 2016 and 2019. She also topped the magazine’s list of the 100 highest-paid celebrities in 2016 with $170 million.

In 2015, Swift became the youngest woman to be included on Forbes’ list of the 100 most powerful women, ranked at number 64. She was also one of the finalists for Time Person of the Year in 2014. In June 2019, Forbes estimated Swift’s net worth at $360 million. She was also the most googled female music artist of 2019.

Other celebrities, like Dwayne Johnson aka “The Rock,” have also suggested that they could make a run for the presidential office in the future, and it is highly likely that they could be candidates in future elections, but it seems too late for them this year.
