Former President Barack Obama has been doing a series of interviews to promote his new book “A Promised Land,” and he recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. It was the former president’s third appearance on the show in the past five years
When speaking about the current political situation and the contested election, Obama joked about Navy SEALs dragging Donald Trump out of the White House.
“Do you feel that when you congratulated Biden and Senator Harris that you were premature in doing that?” Kimmel asked.
“No, I thought I was right on time,” Obama said.
“There seems to be some lag. The communication system in the White House used to be better. It was real time. There were a lot of computers there that actually tell you what is going on around the world,” he added.
When asked if there was anyplace that Trump could hide in the White House, Obama responded, “Well, I think we can always send the Navy SEALS in there to dig him out. I wish the transition was going better, because we lose time during these crises.”
He went on to praise former President George Bush, calling him a patriot.
“When I came in, we were in the middle of a big crisis, the financial crisis. George W. Bush, he and I had obviously big policy differences, but he’s a good man, he’s a patriot. And he ordered everybody on his team to work seamlessly with us on the transition. Could not have been more gracious, could not have been more helpful. And that actually helped us be able to get a head start on trying to stem what could have been a great depression instead of a great recession,” Obama said.
The Obama’s have a lot to say about the contested election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Barack and Michelle Obama are producing a Netflix sketch comedy series called “The G Word,” which is expected to be loosely based on the Trump Presidency.
Comedian Adam Conover, who will partner with the Obamas for the series, confirmed the news on Twitter.
Very happy to finally be able to share this news: I'm creating a new comedy series for Netflix about the federal government. It's called The G Word, and I can't wait to share it with you. https://t.co/cLppFdfoWS

The former president and first lady acquired the rights to Michael Lewis’ book “The Fifth Risk” back in 2018. Deadline, which first reported the news, noted that the show will be based on the book.
Obama’s production company is called Higher Ground Productions and it has a multimillion-dollar Netflix deal for multiple different projects.
Former President Barack Obama’s “A Promised Land” sold nearly 890,000 copies in the U.S. and Canada in its first 24 hours, putting it on track to be the best-selling presidential memoir in modern history.
The first-day sales, a record for Penguin Random House, includes pre-orders, e-books, and audio.
“We are thrilled with the first day sales,” David Drake, publisher of the Penguin Random House imprint Crown told the Associated Press. “They reflect the widespread excitement that readers have for President Obama’s highly anticipated and extraordinarily written book.”
As of Wednesday, “A Promised Land” was No. 1 on both Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.
